2011-2012 Budget Update

The Board of Education adopted the proposed 2011-2012 school budget at its regularly scheduled meeting on April 11th.  The budget of $18,287,961 is a reduction of 0.41% from the current budget and the second straight year the budget has been reduced.  It includes an increase of 1.9% on the tax levy.  Under the adopted budget, the district is able to preserve current levels of program offerings, extracurricular activities including field trips, clubs, and sports.  Low to average class sizes will be maintained across the curriculum.

Approximately $325,000 in position cuts were averted due to announced retirements of seven (7) teachers and four (4) support staff that resulted from a budget reduction buyout offer.  Provided that the district does not need to fill any of the vacated positions, no other cuts are expected for next year.
